From grassroots skating in Nova Scotia to representing Canada on the international stage, Jacob Côté’s journey is an inspiring reminder of where hard work, dedication, and passion can lead. Taking a moment to celebrate one of our former DSC skaters, Jacob Côté, and the incredible journey he has had and continues to have in our sport.
Jacob grew up at Dartmouth Skating Club. DSC was his skating home throughout his childhood, where we watched him grow from a young skater into a national-level competitor. In his younger years, Jacob was also a competitive gymnast with Titans Gymnastics, building the strength, athleticism and determination that would follow him throughout his skating career.
During his years training at DSC, Jacob represented our club and Nova Scotia at the provincial and national levels, becoming a multiple-time Nova Scotia champion and competing at Skate Canada Challenge and the Canadian National Skating Championships.
His accomplishments during those years also included receiving the prestigious Toller Cranston Award, a very special recognition along his journey.
Jacob also had the incredible opportunity to represent Team Nova Scotia at TWO Canada Winter Games. 
In 2019, Jacob represented Nova Scotia in Pre-Novice Men at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta. Four years later, he returned to the Canada Games stage in 2023 in Prince Edward Island, this time competing in Pre-Novice Pairs alongside fellow DSC skater Caroline Mayo.
To represent your province at one Canada Games is an incredible achievement. To return four years later in an entirely different skating discipline makes Jacob’s journey even more remarkable.
Along the way, Jacob captured a bronze medal in Novice Men at the 2022 Canadian National Skating Championships and returned to Nationals the following year as a Junior Men’s competitor.
Jacob remained with Dartmouth Skating Club throughout his childhood, until moving to Ontario for university and beginning the next chapter of his life and skating career.
Today, Jacob competes in pairs with Brianna Dion, and we continue to proudly follow his journey. Together, Jacob and Brianna earned the silver medal in Junior Pairs at the 2026 Canadian National Skating Championships and have been named to Skate Canada’s 2026–27 NextGen Team, representing Canada internationally. 
For all of the young athletes currently growing up on DSC ice, Jacob’s story is a wonderful reminder of just how far hard work, perseverance, versatility and a genuine love of sport can take you.
From competitive gymnastics and growing up on DSC ice, to provincial titles, Nationals, the Toller Cranston Award, TWO Canada Winter Games, and now representing Canada internationally, what an incredible journey!
