Dear Skating Club Executives, Volunteers and Coaches

As you know Nova Scotia is hosting the 2016 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships in Halifax, January 18 – 24, 2016. We are very excited to be able to host the premier figure skaters of the country, and are hoping to make this an exciting and memorable event.

We cannot do it without your help. The event requires about 300 volunteers to make it run smoothly and to be able to host our guests as we should. We need everyone from ice captains, to drivers, to airport greeters, to security. If your talent is lugging equipment, we need that; if you would prefer to assist with catering, all help is welcomed. You do not need to have any skating experience.

Please could you put out the message to your club members and skaters that we are looking for help. Details can be found online at:

Just a few additional details:

  • The event is to be held at the Scotiabank Centre, and the practice rink will be Dartmouth Sportsplex;
  • We are still looking for ice patchers who need to be 13 or above, and be able to skate;
  • Other volunteers need to be 15 or older on 14 January 2016.

We look forward to working together with you on this amazing event. Any questions can be directed to us at: jaywalmsley@ns.sympatico.ca.

Kind Regards

Dan and Jay Walmsley
